Stories from memory. A family legacy. The West, as we remember it.
Pull up a chair. The snow is deep, the coffee’s on, and somewhere in the pines a fire engine is heading out on another call.
Welcome to Nevada Bill Publishing. We’re a family-run press with one promise stamped on everything we print: First In Nevada. I’m Billy Nevada, and through my family’s stories and my own memories, I write about the people and places that made Nevada feel like home: the highway out west, the gaming tables at the state line, and a Lake Tahoe childhood spent watching a big brother answer the call.
This is the beginning of Chronicles of Providence: three books about rescue, love, and adventure, told from memory and passed from one generation to the next. We’ll share what we remember and leave room for readers to dispute and argue the facts. That’s part of how stories stay alive.
First up from the press: Nevada Bill: First in the West, arriving December 31, 2026. The Chronicles follow.
Coming December 31, 2026: Nevada Bill: First in the West
The next release from Nevada Bill Publishing, First In Nevada is Nevada Bill: First in the West by Billy Nevada — the family’s story, from the road west to the first gaming tables, distributed through IngramSpark in print and ebook editions. It is the story of our Nevada Family and the land that made them, told the only way we know how: from memory.
In the works: Huggy’s Tahoe — Rescue in the heart of the mountains
Close behind it comes Huggy’s Tahoe: Chronicles of Providence, Book One — Rescue by Billy Nevada, the first book of the new series.
At its heart is a boy watching his big brother, the first paramedic in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, take on the calls that shaped their town. From the boy’s point of view, the landscape is immense, the grown-ups are mysterious, and the firemen in yellow boots seem to know how to put things back together.
These are not polished tales from a distant overlook. They’re warm, gritty memories from a child’s eye level: the smell of a mountain morning, a home full of family history, a fire engine cutting through the snow. The past comes close enough to touch, and it doesn’t always sit still long enough to pose for a photograph.

In these pages, the Skyland car bomb of August 27, 1968 is part of the town’s unsettled backdrop. Then comes the winter of 1968–69: the chapter remembers 139 inches falling on Daggett Pass and snow burying homes to the rooftops. There are the three trees, a crash that changes a child’s world, and the firemen who keep showing up: steady, capable, and dressed for weather that means business.
For the little brother, the yellow boots are more than a detail. They’re a sign that help has arrived. They belong to the men who come when roads are blocked, families are frightened, and the mountain has its own ideas about how the day is going to go.
That’s the pulse of Huggy’s Tahoe: a first responder’s calls seen through the eyes of the kid at home, trying to make sense of the noise, the snow, and the sudden silences. It’s a story about family, community, and the people who breathe life into the promise that someone will come.
Three books. One unfolding journey.
The Chronicles of Providence is a three-book arc. Each volume leads with Huggy’s Tahoe, with the series name underneath. The journey begins with the calls that tested a town, then turns toward the bonds that held people together and the adventures that carried them onward.
- Book One, Rescue: The calls, the snow, and the fireman brother in the yellow boots. In the works now.
- Book Two, Love: The relationships and family ties that give a life its shape.
- Book Three, Adventure: The mountains don’t just call you — they pull you, push you, and throw you down them!
These books come from memory and from stories shared across generations. Memory has a way of keeping the feeling even when the details get lively around the kitchen table. We’ll tell the story as we know it, and let the readers dispute and argue the facts.
First in the West: a family story on the open road
Long before the Tahoe chapters, there was the road west. Our Nevada family story reaches back to the Victory Highway, the Cobble Stone Service Station, and the borderland towns of Wendover and Stateline, where a good location could mean everything.

The family legacy runs through roadside service and hospitality, across the state line and into Nevada’s gaming history. March 19, 1931, the date Nevada legalized wide-open gambling, marks a turning point in that story. A roulette wheel, a new era, and the ambition to build something lasting: these are part of the wider family tapestry behind the books.

In 2026, we’re also honoring the family’s 1926–2026 centennial. From the Victory Highway to Wendover and Stateline, the details vary by generation; the throughline is a family making its way in the West. You can explore more of that heritage in The Legend of Nevada Bill: The Man Who Was First in the West.
“First in the West” isn’t just a signpost. It’s a way of looking at a place: who arrived, who took a chance, who built a livelihood, and who stayed to tell the story. We’re proud of our Nevada family and the many names, memories, and hard-won lessons that make up its history.
The house the West built
Nevada Bill Publishing exists for one reason: to keep the stories of our corner of the West alive in print. The press carries the legacy of our Nevada Family — the roadside stations, the state-line casinos, and a century of hospitality — and it carries the Chronicles of Providence, the series that brings that storytelling into the present tense. Every title we release, from the family history to the Tahoe books, is written the same way: from memory, with grit, and with love for this place.
This page is our front door. As the catalog grows — First in the West this December, then the Chronicles of Providence — this is where you’ll find what’s new, what’s coming, and where to read it first.
